The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN has removed the heads of agencies in the aviation sector, in line with the recent removal of aviation CEOs. The development was communicated in a statement by the ministry’s head of press and public affairs, Mr. Odutayo Oluseyi.

According to the statement, the dismissals are effective immediately, excluding the agencies’ board secretaries and legal advisers from the action. The decision aligns with the broader objective of repositioning the aviation industry, ensuring safety and enhancing the air travel experience for Nigerians, by the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

Oluseyi emphasised the directive, stating, “I am directed to inform all directors of the following agencies that they have been relieved of their appointments forthwith and should hand over to the most senior officer in their various directorates with immediate effect”.

The affected agencies’ directors include those from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Nigeria Safety and Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

However, the statement clarified that board secretaries and legal advisers of the agencies remain unaffected by this directive. The affected directors were urged to ensure strict compliance with the handover process.
