The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has commended a senior officer for authoring a crime prevention book designed to tackle ‘one-chance’ robberies and other street crimes in Nigeria’s urban areas.
Represented by the FCT Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Ajao Adewale, the IGP described the publication as a timely and lasting contribution to proactive policing.
The book, titled “One Step Ahead: One Chance Robbers and Other Crimes,” was written by the head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the FCT Command, Superintendent Adebayo Jogbojogbo. Speaking at the launch in Abuja, Jogbojogbo said the work is the culmination of more than 25 years of policing experience and seven years of dedicated profiling, pattern analysis and intelligence gathering on criminal syndicates.
According to him, the book goes beyond theory by offering practical safety tips for individuals, particularly commuters, who are often the targets of street crimes. He emphasised the importance of empathy and professionalism in dealing with both suspects and victims.
CP Adewale encouraged every division in the FCT command to acquire copies and integrate the book into ongoing anti-crime strategies.
Jogbojogbo also announced plans for future publications, including a book focused on women in public service and how career demands affect family life.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant, as the police continue efforts to enhance public safety and reduce crime across the FCT.
