The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recognised the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) for its exemplary ethical and integrity compliance, ranking it 9th out of 404 ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) assessed in 2023.

NiMet achieved a score of 78 per cent and secured the 2nd position in the Presidency and Extra Ministerial category, according to an advertorial released by the anti-corruption body.

ICPC’s Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) is designed to track and identify ethical, integrity and compliance deficiencies within government entities and recommend remedial actions. It assesses MDAs based on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to management, performance, service and professional conduct, ensuring compliance with ethical and accountability standards for improved efficiency and service delivery.

The EICS initiative, which began in 2016 with 20 MDAs, aims to promote good ethical practices within organisations and encourage MDAs to integrate compliance measures into their systems to reduce corruption in public offices.

NiMet’s high ranking underscores its commitment to best practices and efficient execution of government policies. It reflects the agency’s dedication to upholding ethical standards and integrity in its operations.
