The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, has lauded the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its remarkable strides in technological advancements and product innovations across various sectors of the economy.
Gbajabiamila expressed his admiration during a familiarisation visit to NASENI on Thursday, August 22, 2024, accompanied by deputy chief of staff, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija and the permanent secretary of the State House, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi.
The visit was part of the presidency’s ongoing engagements with government agencies to better understand their mandates, activities, and challenges, ensuring alignment with the current administration’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda. During the visit, Gbajabiamila had the opportunity to test drive NASENI’s electric vehicle pick-up van and toured the NASENI Hatch Box, innovation hub and solar irrigation pump. He was also introduced to several of the agency’s new products, including home solar systems, prepaid meters, laptops, smartphones and batteries.
After an inspection tour of NASENI’s complex in the Idu Industrial Area, Gbajabiamila praised the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NASENI Khalil Suleiman Halilu and his team for their dedication and progress since Halilu assumed office in September 2023. He expressed his satisfaction with the agency’s work, noting that the visit allowed him to see first-hand the innovative projects and products being developed under Halilu’s leadership.
“I am glad I embarked on this trip,” Gbajabiamila said. “The whole idea behind this visit was to come and hear first-hand, and to see on-site what you are doing, how you are doing it, and what the challenges are. I am very impressed with what we have seen and heard.”
Gbajabiamila emphasised that the impact of Halilu’s leadership is evident in the numerous products NASENI has developed in just 11 months. He commended Halilu and his team for their commitment, dedication and passion, which have driven the agency’s impressive progress.
