The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, has appointed new medical directors for the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Kafanchan in Kaduna State and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare in Hawul, Borno State.

At a formal ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako presented appointment letters to the new medical directors, tasking them with leading the newly established federal health facilities in Northern Nigeria.

Salako emphasised that the appointments were part of the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare. The new medical directors are Dr. Haruna Shehu for FMC Kafanchan, Kaduna State, and Dr. Ali Ramat for the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, Hawul, Borno State.

Reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to strengthening healthcare institutions, Salako underscored the high expectations placed on the appointees. He noted that Kafanchan holds special significance for the President, who has also established a federal university in the area as part of his broader development agenda.

“These are new hospitals, so naturally, you will face some challenges. However, I urge you to stay committed, work closely with stakeholders and align your leadership with the President’s healthcare vision,” Salako stated.

He advised the new directors to engage with the community, maintain strong collaboration with the ministry and demonstrate resilience in addressing the challenges ahead.

In his vote of thanks, Shehu expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and pledged to uphold excellence in service delivery, ensuring that the administration’s healthcare vision is fully realised.
