The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is ready to partner with Babanna Border Development Agency (BBDA) to monitor agricultural activities at the border.
During a recent meeting in Abuja, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Aliyu Abdullahi expressed the need for data on farmers within and around the border community and directed the establishment of a Joint Action Committee to formalise the relationship between the ministry and the agency through a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The committee, comprising directors of the ministry and senior officials of the border agency, will work on the modalities for this partnership.
The director-general of the agency, Mohammed Danladi also expressed the agency’s focus on agricultural activities and urged for cooperation, support and partnership with the ministry. The joint action committee, chaired by the ministry’s director of planning and policy coordination, is expected to present a draft memorandum of understanding in the next meeting.
