The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji has expressed the readiness of the ministry to collaborate with stakeholders for the economic growth of Nigeria.

Nnaji emphasised the importance of a collaborative spirit in addressing national challenges and ensuring a prosperous future for the nation. He announced the administration’s keen interest in establishing the National Research and Development Innovation (RDI) coordination centre under the Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology to integrate and enhance RDI efforts nationwide.

This announcement was made during a presentation of a report on the Nigeria Research Development Innovation Coordination Submit and think-tank of the eight (8) presidential priority areas of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by a delegation of Research for Impact Knowledge Economy and Sustainable Development (RIKESP) led by the executive director, Dr. Mustapha Poopola.

Nnaji further emphasised the administration’s commitment to establishing the National Research Development and Innovation Centre, which will act as a strategic hub for integrating and enhancing RDI efforts nationwide. He called upon all the agencies under the ministry to actively engage with the RDI coordination centre, highlighting its crucial role in the success of the initiative.

The permanent secretary of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mrs. Esuabana Nko Asanye, underscored the importance of Science, Technology, and Innovation as the foundation for a nation’s development, emphasising the need for the full deployment of scientific apparatus across all sectors of the economy. She also highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to create tools that will facilitate the transformation of research and development products into goods and services for commercialization and economic growth.

Poopola explained that the project aims to utilise science, technology, and innovation, research and development to address President Bola Tinubu’s eight (8) priority areas for the socio-economic development of the nation. He called for the ministry and government agencies to work in synergy to achieve the socio-economic advancement of the country in line with Tinubu’s directives.
