The Federal Government has assured the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) that it will provide a conducive environment for medical personnel across the nation to forestall the mass exodus of medical personnel, especially medical doctors, to foreign countries.
The permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani disclosed this when she received delegates of the NMA, as well as the national and FCT executives, led by the association’s president, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, at the ministry headquarters in Abuja.
“We’ll continue to have conversations with the young doctors and have them buy in because there is no better place than home. No better place than here. Those of us who have had the opportunity of working outside would say here is better,” she said.
In his remarks, Ojinmah used the opportunity to discuss some of the challenges facing the association, namely conditions of service, working tools and remuneration.
He congratulated Ajani on her well-deserved appointment and enjoined her to use her good office to further the cause of the association.
