The acting executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele (Esq), on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, embarked on a comprehensive facility tour of the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit aimed to foster direct engagement with staff, strengthen operational efficiency and affirm the Commission’s commitment to staff welfare and productivity.
The tour followed an earlier strategic meeting with the commission’s directors, held in the board room, where Oladele solicited their full cooperation in steering the affairs of the commission. The acting chairman visited every office in Blocks A and C, holding one-on-one discussions with directors, heads of divisions and staff.
Oladele emphasised the critical role of a supportive and resource-rich work environment in driving institutional performance. “It’s important to ensure staff’s dedication and passion for their work every day,” he said. “I plan to provide the staff with the equipment, financial and material resources they need to perform and succeed.”
He commended the commitment of staff and management, noting that operational excellence and streamlined workflows are vital to fulfilling the commission’s constitutional mandate. “I’m impressed by your level of commitment to operational excellence, which I believe is crucial to the achievement of our commission’s objectives,” he stated.
In his interactions, Oladele listened to staff concerns and pledged to address challenges affecting service delivery. He underscored the importance of prioritising employee welfare as a pathway to organisational growth. “This can only be possible if we build on the strength of our staff and make their welfare paramount,” he noted.
In a related development, Oladele announced the immediate constitution of a committee to restructure the monitoring and enforcement (M&E) department. The move is part of broader efforts to reposition the department for greater efficiency and results.
A statement by the commission’s director of public affairs and communication, Chizea Chukwudi described the tour as a strong demonstration of the acting chairman’s hands-on leadership style and dedication to institutional reform. The engagement has set a positive tone for the future of the FCC and reaffirmed its focus on service excellence and staff well-being.
