The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended airport car hire services at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, indefinitely, due to an ongoing factional dispute among the car hire operators.

In a statement released by FAAN’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, it was announced that the suspension is immediate and affects the car hire service operations at the NAIA. The statement emphasised that the unresolved dispute has been negatively impacting the smooth functioning of airport car hire services.

As a result of this suspension, FAAN has advised passengers and airport users, with a special mention to valued passengers, to consider using secure alternative transportation options or e-hailing services for their arrivals and departures from the airport.

The statement concluded by expressing regret for any inconveniences caused by the “necessary suspension” and reassured the public that “normal car hire services will resume promptly” once the “ongoing differences among the car hire operators are amicably resolved”.
