The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has initiated the process of relocating airlines to the New International Terminal at Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA).
This decision was made following a recent fire incident at the International Terminal 1.
The development was confirmed by FAAN’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, Mr. Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, confirmed this development in a statement.
During his inaugural visit to the airport, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, directed FAAN to expedite the relocation process and complete the shutdown of Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 1 by October 1, 2023. This move aims to enhance the overall passenger experience and facilitate a comprehensive overhaul of the terminal.
FAAN is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for airlines and passengers during this relocation. However, travellers are urged to arrive at the airport well in advance to complete their check-in procedures on time and avoid any flight disruptions.
