The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has disclosed that construction work at its Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) division, Birnin Kebbi, is progressing rapidly.
AMEDI is one of several agricultural development institutes established across Nigeria’s geo-political zones to enhance agricultural mechanisation, food security, job creation and wealth generation.
A monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team, led by acting director of natural and physical sciences at NASENI, Mr. Ado Galadima conducted an on-site assessment of the ongoing projects from February 19 to 20, 2025.
The AMEDI project manager, Engr. Umar Abdullazeez and the consulting representative from Grandscape Residence’s Limited, Engr. Hassan Abdulraheem guided the team through the project site, which spans 10 hectares and comprises eight major construction projects in various phases.
Phase one includes the administrative building, perimeter fencing and gatehouse, assembly workshop, water supply project and the first workshop. Phase two features the virtual reality laboratory, second workshop, warehouse and internal road network construction.
According to the project contractors, Engr. Kennedy Agbanwedikeizu and Architect Aminu Ibn Musa, the projects will soon be completed and handed over to NASENI.
The M&E team also inspected the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre (NSAC) in Bagudo, Kebbi State, where four additional projects are underway. Engr. Babalaga Ahmed of Gimba & Partners, the consulting firm, conducted the team around the site, where the administrative building, workshop buildings, agricultural training centre, perimeter fence and gatehouse are under construction.
Babalaga assured that, with materials readily available, the skill acquisition centre would be completed and handed over within the next two months.
