The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika has directed Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) experts to commence an immediate investigation into the collision between a passenger train and a bus carrying workers in Lagos on the morning of Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Sirika described the incident as “unfortunate” and assured the public of the NSIB’s capacity to identify the immediate and remote causes of the accident and suggest ways of preventing similar occurrences in the future. He also solicited the cooperation of members of the public as the bureau begins its investigation.
Sirika sympathised with the government and people of Lagos State, particularly those who have lost loved ones, in light of the sad event. He also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.
According to reports, the incident occurred at the PWD Bus Stop in the Ikeja area of the state. Two individuals were confirmed dead, while many others sustained varying degrees of injuries when a moving train collided with a BRT bus.
