The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has been recognised for its exceptional delivery of satellite services to the armed forces, with a special focus on the Nigerian Army.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja expressed this commendation during a courtesy visit by the managing director and chief executive officer of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Engr. Tukur Mohammed Lawal to the army headquarters in Abuja.
Lagbaja, accompanied by high-ranking military officials, affirmed his awareness of the capabilities of NIGCOMSAT and expressed a commitment to collaborate closely with the organisation. This collaboration will be especially significant as NIGCOMSAT Ltd gears up for the launch of NigComSat-2, its second communications satellite.
Lagbaja underscored the importance of involving army personnel in the design process of the second satellite. He also emphasised the necessity of training army personnel in the command and control operations of the communications satellite to enhance national security.
The managing director and chief executive officer of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Lawal earlier conveyed his optimism about the partnership between the Nigerian Army and NIGCOMSAT Ltd. He highlighted the prestigious status of the Nigerian Army as the pride of the nation.
Lawal commended Lagbaja for his remarkable contributions as one of the nation’s finest soldiers. He expressed his anticipation that the collaboration between the Nigerian Army and NIGCOMSAT Ltd would yield significant benefits for both entities.
A statement from NIGCOMSAT’s general manager of corporate affairs and special projects, Dr. Adamu Idris revealed that both NIGCOMSAT Ltd and the Nigerian Army have agreed to establish a committee to facilitate the creation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for effective collaboration.
