The director-general of the Projects Development Institute (PRODA) in Enugu, Dr. Peter Ogbobe has called on unionists and members of the institute to be agents of change and work together with management to reposition the institute for national development.
He made this call during the maiden edition of an umbrella union, Joint Research and Allied Institutions Sector Unions (JORAISU), comprising the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions (ASURI) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at PRODA’s headquarters in Enugu.
Ogbobe urged the union to take stock of its contributions to the development of the institute and improve service delivery for the overall growth of the institution. Also, he urged them to sheath their swords, sort their differences and join him in the operation to return PRODA to its past glory. The leadership crisis witnessed by the institute over the last four years brought about four chief executives spearheading the institute within this period but the crisis has been brought to a halt since the inception of this present DG.
Reacting to the DG’s remarks, the three union chairmen – Comrade Ihedichi Ihedioha, Comrade Amos Okeke and Comrade Gabriel Ohiemi – all thanked the DG for bringing back peace and harmony to the institute. They equally thanked him for all the development projects he has initiated since he resumed duty as chief executive on June 3, 2022. They further appealed to him to continue his good works, especially on staff welfare and pledged their absolute support to the DG in making the institute great again.
Responding to the union members, the DG urged them to form a force to be reckoned with. He urged them to take the team spirit message to their members, especially researchers, to come up with innovations and inventions that will project the institute positively.
