The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has pledged to address concerns raised by aviation unions regarding the deduction of 50 per cent of the internal revenue generated by aviation agencies.
In a recent statement, Keyamo acknowledged the unions’ call to action against the Federal Government’s policy of deducting half of all internally generated revenue from aviation agencies at the source. He expressed understanding of the workers’ concerns, particularly the negative impact these deductions could have on investments, infrastructure maintenance, and overall operations.
“We recognise the critical issues raised and the essential role our aviation workforce plays in ensuring the safety, efficiency and smooth operation of the industry,” Keyamo said. “The ministry is committed to addressing these challenges in a way that ensures the continued viability and sustainability of the sector while maintaining the highest standards of service delivery.”
Keyamo urged workers and stakeholders to remain calm, assuring them that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is keen on improving the aviation sector and will give their demands due consideration. He emphasized the government’s commitment to finding a lasting solution that balances fiscal needs with the operational requirements of aviation agencies.
“We appeal to all workers to maintain industrial peace while the government works diligently towards resolving the matter amicably,” he added. “The ministry appreciates your patience and understanding and remains committed to ensuring a conducive work environment for all.”
