The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, recently visited Ekiti State for two days to inspect the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti.
The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the airport’s readiness for non-schedule passenger operations. Upon arrival, the Minister received a warm welcome from the governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, along with key members of his cabinet.
During the inspection, the minister praised the state-of-the-art facilities and the airport’s international-standard runway, highlighting its potential as a hub for agro-cargo and upcoming passenger operations. The recent approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for non-schedule passenger operations marks a significant milestone in the airport’s development.
Coinciding with the minister’s visit was the celebration of his 55th birthday. The governor expressed his gratitude for the minister’s unwavering commitment to the aviation sector.
The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport is strategically positioned to support Nigeria’s non-oil export strategy by providing farmers and exporters with seamless access to international markets.
