The director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike has called on staff to ensure that the 2025 budget is implemented in line with the agency’s strategic objectives.
Speaking at NiMet’s budget retreat on March 11, 2025, Anosike emphasised the need to prioritize projects and activities that align with the agency’s goals. He outlined five critical focus areas: infrastructure development, sufficient financing, effective stakeholder partnerships, employee growth and welfare, and efficient operations.
“These themes will guide us toward building a vibrant, efficient and sustainable NiMet,” he stated.
Anosike also urged staff to strictly adhere to procurement laws and processes, stressing that budgetary performance is key to achieving NiMet’s overall objectives.
He highlighted the retreat’s purpose as an opportunity to review the 2025 budget, assess achievements and address managerial and welfare-related issues.
NiMet, as Nigeria’s primary meteorological agency, plays a crucial role in providing weather forecasts and climate services. The retreat underscores the agency’s commitment to efficiency, accountability and improved service delivery in line with national development goals.
