The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has reaffirmed that all vaccines provided at government health facilities across Nigeria are completely free and accessible to all citizens.
The executive director of NPHCDA, Dr. Muyi Aina made this known in an interview with journalists on Monday in Abuja. He urged Nigerians to visit their nearest health centres for accurate information on vaccine-preventable diseases and to take full advantage of available immunisation services.
“Vaccines are FREE at all government hospitals. We encourage everyone to go to the nearest health facility to learn more about the diseases we can prevent and the vaccines that are available to protect themselves and their families,” he said.
Aina emphasised that vaccines remain one of the most effective tools in preventing infectious diseases, lowering childhood mortality and promoting community well-being.
He noted that the Federal Government, in partnership with development agencies, has made significant investments to ensure the continuous supply of vaccines nationwide.
The agency, he added, is intensifying routine immunisation outreach, especially in hard-to-reach areas, and scaling up awareness efforts to counter misinformation and vaccine hesitancy.
He urged parents, caregivers, and community leaders to ensure children receive all recommended doses on schedule, building lifelong immunity against diseases such as measles, polio, hepatitis ‘B’ and yellow fever.
He also reminded the public that adult vaccines, including COVID-19 boosters, remain available at designated centres.
“Protecting our health is a collective responsibility. We must all make informed choices and take advantage of the free services provided by the government,” Aina said.
He called on media partners, civil society and healthcare workers to help disseminate accurate information and support national efforts to build a healthier, fully immunised nation.
