The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, recently hosted a career orientation event titled ‘Building Africa’s Next Generation of Aviation Leaders’ to inspire secondary school students within the FCT to pursue careers in aviation.
Speaking at the event, AAAU registrar, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing young talent and bridging the skills gap in African aviation. He noted that early exposure to aviation careers was crucial for building a sustainable future for the continent’s aerospace industry.
Experts from AAAU and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) delivered presentations on key topics such as opportunities in African aviation, aircraft systems, aviation law, meteorology and manpower challenges in the sector.
Students also heard directly from their peers (AAAU undergraduates currently studying various aviation disciplines), offering relatable insights into the academic and professional pathways ahead.
Participating schools included Aviation City International College, Government Day Secondary School Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Airport, Government Secondary School Garki and Holy Family College Kuje, with officials from the FCT Secondary Education Board in attendance.
Director of professional training programmes, Aliyu Azare gave the closing remarks, reaffirming AAAU’s dedication to guiding the next generation of aviation professionals.
