The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja participated in the EasyREMO Workshop held at the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), hosted by the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
Head of the meteorology department, Dr. Eniola Olaniyan along with postgraduate students Mr. Tunde Atoyebi and Mr. Okanlawon, represented AAAU at the event.
The workshop, organised by the German Climate Service Centre (GERICS) and WASCAL’s Doctorate Research Programme in West African Climate Systems (DRP-WACS), aimed to enhance the understanding of climate modelling in West Africa.
The objectives included introducing the EasyREMO model, providing insights into climate modelling techniques, teaching methods for analysing climate model data, and facilitating regional assessments of climate change impacts on land use, agriculture and infrastructure in West Africa.
Key presentations guided participants through complex concepts in climate modelling, with a specific focus on localised climate predictions using the EasyREMO model.
