The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji emphasised the importance of human space flight in exploring the nation’s space ecosystem.

He mentioned that the National Space Policy and Programme (NSPP) identified human space flight as a key objective and expressed concerns about the delay in achieving the goals set in the 25-year roadmap approved in 2005.

During the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) in Abuja, the minister highlighted the need to leverage technology for the country’s economic advancement.

The minister acknowledged the contributions of the private sector and emphasised the importance of realising the country’s space exploration dream. The permanent secretary, Mrs. Esuabana Nko Asanye also commended the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) for its intervention, expressing hope that the MoU would help achieve Nigeria’s space exploration aspirations.

Furthermore, the director-general of NASRDA, Dr. Matthew Adepoju emphasised the agency’s achievements in launching six satellite missions and its role in developing the nation’s space ecosystem.

According to a statement by the ministry’s deputy director, press and public relations, Atuora Obed, the co-founder of Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA), Joshua Skurla expressed the organisation’s commitment to providing Nigerians with space exploration and research opportunities.
